This is a handicraft activity which anyone can manage to do. The minting of a special lucky coin is mysterious and exciting. Every participant gets to choose a coin blank and mint his or her own two-sided coin on an anvil, with guidance from an instructor. The coin becomes a lucky coin after one’s wishes have been rubbed into it.
During the minting a tale is told from the chronicles of Balthasar Russow about how a coin forger was boiled to death in the Town Square and the ending of trading relations with Russia in 1494.
With advance notice it is also possible to create a custom made coin matrix to mint a coin with your own design. The coin blank can be of either bronze or silver and the minting can take place in the museum, at the horse mill, at Köismäe tower or another location upon agreement.
